COPING WITH PATENT WRITING: EXPAND YOUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Organized by
MEDICAL SUBCOMMITTEE OF IDMA
&
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS SUBCOMMITTEE OF IDMA
ON
Friday-Saturday 9th & 10th May 2008 at Prof K Venkataraman Auditorium
University Institute of Chemical Technology Campus (Matunga), Mumbai – 400 019
Course Co-ordinator: Prof Noel J de Souza, Prof Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology – UICT (Mumbai)

Leading experts on Patents and Intellectual Property matters will address the participants on various issues in the morning sessions (as listed in the programme) which will include basics pertaining to writing a pharma-specific patent – whether for a therapeutic  claim, process, or biotech / nutraceutical / ayurvedic product plus practical tips on searches for patenting.

The workshop has 2 dedicated afternoon sessions for drafting patents. For this there will be over 50 computer terminals provided and experts in this field will guide the delegates through this patent-writing exercise.

It is the endeavor of the workshop that the participating delegate writes the patent of his / her choice of product / product segment / process. For successfully achieving this objective the topic of the patent document intended to be written must be forwarded in a sealed envelope to the IDMA’s office and marked to Prof de Souza; Re: Patent Workshop.

The workshop is suitable for R&D, Medical, Patent & Regulatory departments’ & Marketing personnel and CEOs so as to understand the basics of patent writing. In the present Patent era, not only understanding Patents is important but familiarity with the art of writing the same provides an in-depth grasp. The two full day workshop intends to facilitate the Company personnel to compile a patent documentation in close to finished form and only leave space for the Patent attorney to fill in the legal jargons. This makes the patent written not only superior in terms of claims made (since the Company personnel best know their basis), but also cuts down the legal costs for the Company.

Don’t miss this opportunity!
Draft a patent based on YOUR own data and take the first step!

We urge especially all IDMA member companies to take advantage of this unique workshop.
